My last period started on December 20th... I've now missed which should have been my January period and February. I'm approximately 45 days late give or take some since my periods tend to be a little irregular. I have taken 5 tests already all negative.

I want to go see a doctor and get a blood test done. If that comes up negative as well then I need to know what kinds of questions I should be asking the doctor and what things I should have them check for. Trying to get something worked out with my health insurance so I can set up an appointment.

My mom had a hystorectomy when she was 33 due to seriously large fibroids and a lot of pain she was having.

My sister has PCOS so I definitely know that can be a possibility.

I don't take birth control. I used to but I have had complications with every brand I have tried in the past and due to personal reasons I don't want to take BC if I can avoid it.

Anyone ever been this late and not pregnant? I know I have been stressed out as well which probably plays a role, but I'm frustrated not knowing what could possibly be going on with my body. I've also gained some weight recently, but I tend to gain weight if I'm stressed out.

Ultrasound is probably the route you need to go if you think you might have something going on. They will probably want to do a vaginal ultrasound as well as a regular ultrasound. Vaginal ultrasounds suck by the way. Not that external ultrasounds are any better. I had to pee SO BAD and they were like "ummm, well, sorry, but you're not actually full enough... here, drink a bunch more water and come back in 20 minutes." UGH

Anyway, that's what I would do. Even if you're not having any other classical symptoms, since there's kind of a history of stuff going on, IMO it's worth getting it checked out.

Stress and carrying extra weight can influence your cycles, and you said you're dealing with both. A few years ago, I went through the exact same thing as you. I was stressing out and became pretty overweight. My usual doctor diagnosed me with PCOS. But I went to an awesome specialist, and she said that many PCOS diagnoses of overweight women are incorrect. Being overweight can cause your body to exhibit the exact same symptoms as PCOS. She recommended that I start exercising daily to help relieve the stress, and go on a diet plan and drop the weight. It fixed the problem.

I'd still recommend going to the doctor to be 100 percent sure you're not pregnant, or don't have any other underlying issue. But before accepting any PCOS diagnosis, try managing the stress and losing the weight.

ETA: edited to clarify a few things, LOL.

I do, but I also have PCOS. So yeah, Gem is right about weight and stress.

As far as personal experience, I was always regular, but always in pain, cramping between periods, heavy bleeding, a lot of pain during periods, even pain during sex. Pain, pain, pain. Constantly. I ended up having several decent-sized cysts on both ovaries, and they put me on birth control. Nothing since.

Just sounds like you need to see the doctor, simple as that. When they pull your blood, make sure they check your hormone levels too. Most do, some are lazy and just scan the paperwork. If test comes back negative for baby, you'll have to schedule a follow-up appointment. They might do an ultrasound to see if there are any visible issues, as well as a Pap. I've never found many doctors helpful at this point, so just go through your experience. Any major mood swings, cramping between periods, spotting, excessive pain during period, heavy bleeding, give an idea if you are regular or not, that sort of thing.

If you are having issues staying regular, Birth Control is usually the form of treatment, especially if you do happen to have cysts that are messing with your hormone production. I honestly can't think of any other common treatment, except hysterectomy - and that is extreme.

Well, I will say that when I didn't have Birth Control I managed with herbs for birth control and hormone leveling. Just more natural for me, but also more time consuming and easy to slack off on. It can get expensive, too.

I hope you figure out what's up! Stress is the biggest issue, try taking a relaxing bath. It could also be your weight, especially if you have a carb/starch heavy diet. That tends to mess with your hormones too, at least in my experience. Both my aunts were completely infertile, and they weren't even 30lbs overweight. They dropped their weight (at different times) and went on to have kids, normal periods, so on.

I'm working on the stress and weight part. I started taking Bikram yoga after reading up on how it helps people who have stress and anxiety. Just started my first class the other day. I do a TON of walking since I work with daycare and boarding dogs that need walks every day and have my own dogs that get walked 2-3 times a day. I need to get the passcode to the gym at my apartment complex so I can start going there on my days off work. Losing weight for me is super hard even if I work out and eat right. A lot of my weight is stress related. Once the stress is gone I lose the weight quickly but when I'm stressed I gain quickly even if I change nothing in my diet and exercise. Trying to get the stress part under control.

Definitely going go ask the doctor about doing the ultrasounds. Better to get checked out and be safe rather than sorry.

Stress can do this also but it would be a good idea to go to an ob/gyn to rule out any other reasons first.

I've recommended this book here before, but will again because it is excellent.... Taking Charge of Your Fertility http://www.amazon.com/Taking-Charge-Your-Fertility-Anniversary/dp/0060881909.

It contains so much great info on what exactly is going on in your body, and is geared toward both those wanting natural birth control or wanting to get pregnant.

Just like vets and raw diets for dogs ;), a lot of physicians do not really understand women's bodies and the intricate details of our monthly cycles. I think all women should educate themselves and have a better understanding of their bodies.

^^^ I definitely agree, and that is a great book with a lot of good info. I've also gone natural/primal in diet, too. I'm generally more geared toward natural stuff. It makes me feel better about my body, and my body feels better too.

I'd start with a doctor's appt. I've never had to check with my insurance company before getting a doctor's appt...
Usually, an ultrasound is on site, so they'd just do one if they felt in necessary. Otherwise, my doctor's has always been the ones who set up further diagnostics with the insurance company, as far as approval, etc.

I went from Augsut to January 20th without a period. I haven't had one since January.

Granted, I had a tubal ligation done back in 2010, but that doesn't do anything to help explain these issues.

Other issues I've been having: bleeding between period or light bleeding for a day or two, severe pain during sex, bleeding after sex (for days), cramping not related to my period (I have bad cramps about every other day).......it's been loads of fun. Not.

I do have PCOS. I also had a cervical biopsy done, but haven't received the results yet. I've got an ultrasound scheduled for Tuesday morning to check for large cysts and/or fibroids.

I know it sucks. :(

I hope you can get some answers. (((hugs)))

I have pcos and endometriosis and I had miserable periods when I was younger and then began to skip them. One dr just put me on bc and that worked for years. Got of it because it was too expensive and I was fine for years. Started skipping again and I had some hormones way out of wack. Prolactin was high and would go up and down. Back on bc. Off again because it made me irritable but the endometriosis acted up so back on and that's when I truly discovered I had it and not just a guess.

I'd guess you have so much stress going on that could be a reason. Try to relax which always sounds like obvious if I could I would thing. Lol!

Hope you figure it out!
