We adopted Lucy from a shelter that was feeding her Avoderm (aka Healthfood for Dogs). We noticed when we got her that her stools were soft and mushy, but the shelter counselor told us it happens to a lot of dogs, that the stress of being in kennels all day messes with their systems.
They recommended we switch her off avoderm soon though to something better. We put her on Solid Gold. A couple months later, her poop was still gross and mushy (and yellow).
We went to the natural pet store and asked their advice, and they gave her Innova. It's been a month of Innova now, and it's still yellowish and mushy and gross.
Is it time to go to the vet now? (I'm over panicky and wanted to take her a while ago, but hubby said we should try different foods first) Or is there something simple we can add to her food to help make her stool stronger? Is there a better kibble to try? It's been 4 months now, she should be better than this...
Thanks!
