I saw a video of a dog that was at work with its owner during the 6.5 quake in northern CA a couple of weeks ago. It was clear that the dog sensed the quake before the humans did. (It was scary for me to watch since it brought back memories of the 2001 Seattle quake and my dogs' reaction to that. I don't know if my dogs sensed the quake before me since I was asleep when it hit.)
I heard from the owner of the dog in the video on a comment on my blog post about the CA quake, and she works at a newspaper and now has a blog about Sophie and her reaction to the earthquake.
