I visited a local municipal shelter in a slightly more rural area today and am going to be volunteering there and working with the dogs from now on. The ACO is awesome and loves dogs and is obviously doing her very best with pretty limited resources.
Has anyone ever done a Kong drive? There is NO budget for toys or any kind of enrichment and almost all the stuff that's been donated (other than tennis balls) is soft toys, which can't be left in the cages due to the mess they make. Any advice on how to get one going?
This is the Ferris, Texas municipal shelter, and there's some really cute dogs ther enow, including what looks like a Border Terrier mix, a Schnoodle, some lab/hound/aussie pups, and a few more. There is also the MOST adorable little Staffiejack-type pup, about 4 months old, who is going to make someone an AWESOME performance dog.
