our vet said sometimes they may think they have some poo left on them and they are "wiping" lol
Gipsy started dragging her butt around that age, it was rather odd. The vet checked for worms and told us Mac'smom said... She also told to clean her down there and see if it got better, which it did. Maybe she just didn't feel clean enough. Try wiping, maybe it'll help.

doggie toilet paper? Maybe we would have better luck teaching him to wipe than we are with our 4 year old (sorry if that's TMI) lol

by anal gland that means that the anal glands are full. They usually empty on their own when the dog poops but for some dogs, it sometimes does not work and they fill up making the dog uncomfortable. A vet or groomer can empty them for you. Also if the poops have been soft you can put canned Pumpkin in the food to harden them which will help them to empty.

Yeah, I'd give it a little time and try to firm up her stools if they aren't already. The anal glands can be emptied but I have heard that if you do this too often, they will need it done all of the time. Try to encourage firmer stools and see if it gets better.

Also, just because he was wormed doesn't mean he hasn't picked them up again. Any fleas? - again, you may not even see these on him. Tapeworm comes from an infected flea. Maybe drop a stool sample off to the vet for a check just to be on the safe side.

id be having the anal glands checked, (anal glands are little glands just inside the anus they occasionally get full or blocked or impacted and butt scooting is the common way of a dog applying some presure to try and relive them.
a vet or groomer can empty them, they can show you how too, but its STINKY!
som breeds are more prone to this than others but it can happen to ANy dog ANY age. firmer stool often heps express them naturally, but if there blocked for too long without relife they can become infected.

it could also very well be worms, just because the dogs been wormed, it also depends on what the dog was de-wormed on...and even then, unless you can 100% keep him away from anywhere where ANY other animal has been theres no saying he hasnt picked them up again. (most vets suggest a fecal test with the yearly checkup) so id suggest the same, drop off a stool sample, have them check it and have them check the anal glands too...
