Haha, no I actually haven't xD
My mother's just really big on cooking and the restaurant business and Chinese (and recently Korean) cuisine in particular. She knows a lot of these obscure places even around here that make fairly authentic Chinese food, and if she can't find a place, she'll make it herself at home. That, and she watches a lot of Chinese TV at home that talk about food, including which provinces have restaurants that specialize in what and how the food is cooked. I end up hearing about and trying all sorts of dishes just hanging around at home.
Shanghai and Kaifeng (in the Henan province near Zhengzhou) have the best specialty Xiao Long Bao restaurants. So good.
