Clay, there are lots of things to consider when you get a dog.
You have to figure out how much time you have to spend with a dog. Do you want to deal with all the stuff that comes along with the cuteness of a puppy, or would you rather start with a dog that's adult or almost adult?
Have you considered going to a local animal shelter and adopting a dog?
How much room would a dog have to exercise in at your home? Is your yard large or small? Is it fenced in?
What kind of dogs do you like? Large dogs? Small dogs? Medium dogs?
