I LOVE his coloring.

I've had a Cheek (called pekachu's around here) for a couple weeks. My research says to make sure they KNOW who the boss is and are well socialized because they can be insecure. They learn really fast (really, really fast) and will try to dominate people and animals if they feel there is no definite leader. I suppose this is the case with a lot of dogs, but seems to be especially true of this mix.

Too cute! Congrats on your puppy!

IME, the most important thing to know about chihuahua puppies is that they need a TON of socialization.... The world is a scary place if you're that small, and they need to know that they can trust you to keep them safe. Puppy classes are a MUST, so that they can learn how to get along with other dogs (many chis are scared/reactive toward other dogs), and frequent outings to meet new people is also a very important thing.

Good luck!!

Awwwwwwww! He is so cute!!!

As with all small breeds, if he is left unsocialised he could become fearful. Take him with you everywhere you can and introduce him to new situations with a light heart and loads of treats.
I would start working on the basics of clicker training now. It is never too early.

Other then that, keep us well dosed with pictures! That little face is to die for!!!

thanks everyone, Tank appreciates all your comments :)

this is him with his little sweater on :)

He is such a great puppy, a lot of personality. He learned to sit in 2 days and is using his wee wee pads about 70% of the time. He doesn't seem to have the un-socialable chihuahua characteristics yet. We had a bunch of friends over yesterday and one of them brought their Cavalier King Charles 8 month old girl puppy and they were playing for hours together yesterday he also seems to love everyone he meets.

Our main concern with him is that we don't want him to become the typical 'small lap dog' and we want to really limit the separation anxiety some dogs can get. But so far so good!

Just keep him going on meeting new people and going to new places. He should be fine. I have 3 little dogs and they are all sociable and outgoing. It took a lot of work with my two adults as I got them as adults. The pup has been a piece of cake as we have had her living the lifestyle since the day she arrived. :)

He is seriously cute!!!
