I know some of you are familiar with Harry's tragedy.
Well, one of my distant breeder friends lost a puppy while it was out showing. It was also eleven months old and started convulsing and just... died. No idea what happened. A seemingly healthy pup just dead within a day. It's so sad.
Now, puppy is not closely related to Harry nor from either of his breeders. HOWEVER, both pups are 2nd generation Japanese outcrosses tracing back to the same kennel. Harry's American side of the pedigree was really well known but I do not know too much about his Japanese relatives.
Neither autopsy has shown anything, but the circumstances are so similar, its eerie. There's no way I can link these two deaths that I can see, though.
We always assumed Harry's death was a freak deformity, but what if it's not?
I don't know what would be a good idea to do about this? I just really fear for the breed as this kennel is really showing over here and doing well. Lots of breeders are crossing to these dogs as the Japanese have much better breed type.
Is there a reason something like this would show at eleven months?
