I am reading a series called Saga which is pretty scifi...but I enjoy it a great deal.

I also just started a series called Ravine which is high fantasy and beautifully done.

I absorb comics and graphic novels. Some of my favourites:

Bone (probably my favourite of all time ever)
Maus (gritty, about the holocaust)
Sin City, 300, basically anything by Frank Miller.
Sandman
Transmetropolitan (think Hunter S. Thompson in the year 3000)
Watchmen
Persepolis
Habibi (this one is gritty, but excellent)
Pyongyang: A Journey in North Korea
Ghost World

If you're into manga at all, there's a ton I like there too. :D

V for Vendetta and Watchmen are excellent, although the colors in Watchmen took some getting used to.
I second Watchmen! I don't really read or know anything about comic books but I took a graphic novel class which was AWESOME and I loved Watchmen!

Another couple good graphic novels we read were Black Hole, Fun Home and Jimmy Corrigan. :)

I can't believe I forgot to add Nausicaa to my list. Seconding that recommendation, it's an absolute treasure.
