I pulled up Miakoda's threads with Miakoda pics since several people have been asking for them since we found out about the devastating tragedy. Maybe even some of you who are good at that sort of thing might want to put together a slide show for her.

Thanks for making this sticky Renee!!! I'm copying my post from the other thread here if it's okay.

I just noticed this thread and I wanted to thank you guys for such support, this is such a great tribute to a VERY loved and missed family dog. I'm not sure if any of you talk to Mia but I am going to tell her about this thread when I call her either today or tomorrow. I'm sure it will lift her spirits to know so many of you feel for her.

I cannot imagine going through what she's gone through. I can tell you all this, however- she is being very proactive and Miakoda's death will not be in vain. There is no excuse for an offleash dog to attack another dog like this, and Mia is efforting to get the leash laws in her area better defined to protect responsible owners from loose animals. Also, if anybody owns an APBT/mix/Staffy (or any dog singled out by BSL) and would like to contribute a positive story about their dog or write a little something about how Miakoda and Cole touched your hearts and what a senseless tragedy this is please do. Mia is putting together a huge collection of these stories in hardcopy and using them to fight "breedism". Politicians and commisioners, etc. get emails everyday speaking out against BSL, but very rarely do they receive a large book of testimonials written by many speaking up in one united voice. It's easier for them to delete a single email than a formidable collection bound together and delivered to their desk.

I firmly believe Miakoda was killed out of prejudice, ignorance and fear.

That Lab was running full throttle for the baby stroller. Miakoda took the hit and saved Cole from getting hurt-possibly quite seriously. She is a hero in every sense of the word.

If you are interested in contributing to the book PM me and I'll give you my email addy- then I'll zap them to her.

Good deal, Luvin . . . this is important, I think, and not just on a personal level. This kind of senseless tragedy could happen to any one of us who have dogs and we need to be fully aware of that!

Mia says thank you all...

Mia knows about all the support from Chaz that's going on right now and she told me to send you all her thanks. She hasn't been able to come over and read the threads as yet...but she promises she will. It's going to take some strength for her to look through all of your tributes and sweet pictures/supportive posts, guys. I tell you I've been crying through these threads so I know she is going to be moved beyond words.

You guys are really something over here. True friends.

You tell Mia to take whatever time she needs . . . We'll still be here, and we aren't forgetting her or Miakoda. And one day Cole will be able to look back at all the pictures and the things people have written and know that when he was a baby he was watched over by a courageous, great-hearted Dog.
