Disgusting babytalk experience*Not for children*

I also build in a few extra minutes when I go to Petsmart, just because everyone wants to stop me and pet Sawyer and gush over how well behaved he is. I'll be holding a greenie so of course his attention is fixated on me 
I don't mind it much though, it makes me smile to know that other people think my dog is as pretty as I think he is.

Ahhh Richie. you should be walking him becuase you want to train him to be a good dog and heel nicely as well as learn about other things like cars and people..and how to behave in public..not because your parents want you to. that is part of being a good dog partner..you are there to teach him about the world and those baby talking people are a wonderful way to socialize your pup so that he doesn't grow up aggressive and possible hostile. There are always two ways of looking at any situation. Just be grateful that people are trying to be nice instead of thinking that you are a creep with a stupid dog that has no place in this world. Granted the word cute gets old, i hear it about a zillion times when i go to the public with my artwork..not interesting, or well done, tho i did have one man that said it was "tight" which i took as a compliment. Just look at it as an opportunity to train your dog well. you should be walking him at least once a day and making sure that he understands all the commands. Believe me it is a lot easier to teach him to heel now then it is to wait 6 months when he will be three times the size and 10 times as strong. Let those people pet him..encourage their children to pet him..if they have pets..let him socialize to the fullest extent. THAT IS YOUR JOB AS A DOG OWNER if not you are failing him in every way. You might even see if anyone else has a dog that wants to walk at the same time you can..that way your pup can learn from an older dog as well. I make Vic sit every time a car approaches..i try to have him look before we cross the road..i try to teach him that traffic is a danger and that we should proceed with caution. We enjoy sneaking up on the squirrels and studying the rabbits that freeze in the yard..i teach him to leave it ..another great opportunity as we go on. We expore new areas together..it is Victor's greatest fun! and a beautiful way to bond with your puppy.
Yeah, I get a little worn with people assuming Shiva and Kharma are males because they're big dogs, so I just inform these people that Shiva and Kharma are "delicate little grrrrls." They allow some people to pet them, others get the baleful sideways glare and whichever grrrrl is with me moves between me and the person or people.

Baby talk goes away with time??? 2.5years later and I'm still getting just as much baby talk and people stopping as the first day i walked him! When will it go away????????? Actually, to be honestI don;t mind it. I'm a very sociable person and enjoy meeting everyone I can. The people that are only there for OC and don't even gimme more than a "can i pet your dog?" really bug me though! Uh, helo? there is another living being standing with you! It's great when the person that stops us is a cute guy though, i mean honestly i just aint gonna complain at all then! LOL

HEAR, HEAR. We would be the first ones to complain if somebody came up and dissed our dogs, and while still a puppy it is wonderful socialisation. When our Rottweiler was a pup we were told to to introduce him to as many different situations as we could, and that included having lots of small children over, (our girls were small then) playing (gently and kindly) with him, meeting as many different folks and animals as possible. He grew to be a teddy bear and was a pleasure to have in the home and to take out as he was so well socialised.
People stop me and Phoebes when were are out together in the city or in the forest and still make a fuss of her, and she totally loves the attention and fuss. She gets on with everyone she meets, in fact she gets annoyed if people dont stop to say hi!
