Why do dogs eat their own poo?

And the poo of other dogs? :confused: It baffles me, and I was wondering if there is any logical reason why an animal would do that.

If your dog eats some that is contaminated with worms, there's always a chance he'll pick up worms. There are probably some diseases that can be transmitted that way as well.

Thanks, I will check that out. I'm just asking because yesterday morning I ate some of Shep's poo, and I wanted to know if I should go to the hospital or not, because it tasted like crap and I don't feel very good today.

Yes you might want to go to the ER as most clinics are closed for holiday.

And youve probably caused yourself some kidney problems, ulcers, and possibly given yourself worms from the feces. Good job.

Please tell me you were intoxicated when this happened.
