Our new Beagle puppy is about 13 or 14 weeks old now, and we wanted to put a collar on her. Though, when we do, she acts very bizzare. Normally, she is on the go, running and playing--being a puppy. When we put the colar on her though, it is as if she is completely immobilized. She will just lay there. She won't even get up to get a treat. And we have tried a few times, and it doesn't seem to be getting better.

My mom has had dogs all her life, and she has never seen anything like this before. We are planning to put a chip in her, but what if we want to walk her?

Any ideas?

She might just need to adjust, maybe just lay it over her neck while she's eating or put it on very loosley during a game or soemthing. Don't amke a big deal out of it.

None of ours wear collars at home, I'm too paranoid of the dangers of them

She'll get over it ;) Most pups will react like that when you put a collar on for the first time, it's very strange for them to have something around their neck for the first time. it's perfectly normal. Some dogs you just leave them on and the dog will eventually forget. With other you need to keep short practice sessions, put it on and initiate her favorite game or put it on before dinner and take it off when she's done, eventually you can leave it on.
