I was doing a google search on wheat gluten and found an article on a website that said wheat gluten is hard on the dog's kidneys? I can't remember the website.

Should we avoid wheat gluten or any protein derived from grains?

wheat gluten:
AAFCO: The tough, viscid nitrogenous substance remaining when wheat is washed to remove the starch.

An inexpensive byproduct of human food processing with almost no nutritional value left, serves mostly as a binder.
I don't feed it, as its completely uneccessary.

According to DogtorJ, who posts infrequently but has a ton to say about wheat gluten and wheat in general, wheat gluten is terrible for your dog and can lead to celiac disease. Do some Googling on that one.

But yeah, the fewer grains in a food the better.

Wheat Gluten is a poor ingredient. Contaminated Wheat Gluten is also the cause of the Menu Foods recall--it has led to the death/hospitalization of several animals.
