I just learned today than an ex-FOHA mastiff (a Neapolitan, to be exact), Zeus, passed on. Poor guy wasn't treated well by his previous owners, and he came to FOHA with a bad case of heartworms. He was treated, but his heart sustained lasting damage. He was in a great home for the last two or three years, but he went into heart failure recently and they had to let him go. You were a good dog Zeus. I remember when your people first brought you home, they sent out a new baby announcement with your picture on it! They sent us updates saying how sweet you were and how much you liked the neighborhood children. Its a shame the person who had you before couldn't be bothered with basic care, and you had to die so young (I want to say he was four or five, not quite sure exactly). But at least you got to know what a real home was, and what it was like to be loved.
Rest in Peace Zeus!
