A good idea !

I read this in the paper the other day in a dog section. A lady wrote in that she's afraid when she walks her dog, and strange dogs run out of a yard towards them. He suggested taking a large umbrella with one of those snap openners with them. Scares the dog long enough to assess the situation.

It's a good idea! But i'm always all fingers and thumbs! I would never get that brolly open in time!! lol! I can just imagine me saying to the pack of marauding dogs running towards me "Hang on while I get this darn thing open!" Lol!

It's a good idea as long as the dogs in question stop to take stock and don't immediatly jump in to get it before it gets them.

A golf club or aluminum baseball bat works wonders too.

I prefer wickets--wider surface area.
