I was just wondering if there is an advised age to get a puppy microchipped. Would it be best to do it as soon as possible or is there a certain age the pup has to be?

All of my dogs are chipped when they're altered, so my pups are done between 4 and 6 months and any rescues are done immediately. That way they're under while it's being put in. While some people do in without anesthesia, I would rather spare them any unnecessary pain if possible. It may only be the size of a grain of rice but I've seen it done many times and it is a bit painful.
Thanks! The breeder offered to get it done with the first set of vacs, but I thought I remembered someone saying they had to be six months. Must have been my imagination
