Hello everybody,

Sebastian is a two year old Miniature Schnauzer in great health. His problem: He eats way too fast! I can't keep food in his dish because no matter how much I put in, he eats all of it--to the point he makes himself sick. So, I give him 2- half cup portions; one in the morning, and one in the evening. But still, he gobbles it all down in under a minute. This boy LOVES food! Any help would greatly be appreciated,

Steve

there are several things you can try

- put some heavy objects in the bowl so he has to eat around them
- feed from a treat dispensing ball instead of out of a bowl (omega paw makes a nice one)
- offer the food on a flat plate or cookie sheet instead of a bowl

side note: portion controlled feeding is better than free feeding, so don't feel bad about that.

I agree with mordy. If you want to try a dispensing toy you could try something like a kong. Or you could even try hiding kibbles here and there and letting him sniff them out.
