I tend to think so.

What other dog has no nipples and sleeps with their eyes open?lol

BTW, I thought that this was something dogs do to be aware of their surrounding? Like a genetic thing?

Misha does too - although sometimes the inner eyelid creeps across - blank white eyes - that looks just too weird!

Is it a normal trait of herding dogs?
He's not a herding dog so I wouldnt know ;)

I really dont know if its normal or not, but he sleeps like that.

It does help him guard. I've seen him notice a squirl, or a lizzard while sleeping and just going for it.

I know what you mean. Peanut can pick up any movement while shes asleep. The radar ears might be a help, though.lol

I don't know if it's got anything to do with herding or guarding or if it's just an individual anomaly. Mine are guardian/drovers and trust me, those eyes are slammed shut, lol! Bimmer will sometimes sleep with his eyes at half mast, but those big radar ears are always open.
