Why does it change? Emma used to have dark coloring but its lightened considerably. Her black on her back is now brown.

I know huskies will lighten as they age... Kena used to look like this,



now at 2.5:


Also, the sun can damage coats, I believe.

I know with schnauzers they've got to have a specific gene to stop them fading. They're like chameleons!!

Having a breed that changes alot, as the agouti factor comes into play, never do would we expect a dog to come out the color they were as a puppy.. Even Zubin- typical white with black ended up silver on his skirt and eyebrows.. I dont care what color he is- he is my boy... :D

i hear ya...Morgan was supposed to be sable - we registered her as a sable. At two years she had just a hint of black and barely passed as a sable, only because of the location of the black. By 4, she was red.

Tyr changes color seasonally - darker in the winter.
