They are under an old house. She says they can get to them easily. She cant bring them inside because of her mom. She says there are 5, maybe 6. They are 2 days old. She wants to know how much she can sell them fore. They are "pure bred" BCs.
AC probably wouldn't do anything at this point, unless there is some gross neglect. Other than trying to see if she will let you help her get those puppies started out better than what they are now and sneak in a little education, there probably isn't a lot you CAN do. Scaring her with stories of parvo and such probably wouldn't hurt
Glad I'm not the only one who recognizes that a lot of local ACs are horrid. My mom's friend called ours three times to come get a stray dog that was tied up in front of my mom's friend's house, in plain sight. Multiple times they said "Well we can't find him, I don't see no dog!"
Anyhow, yeah, maybe have a talking-to with her mom or something, if you think there's even the smallest chance she will listen.
I agree with Renee! Casually ask if she's feeding Mom properly so that she can care for her pups the best she can in this situation. Is there anyway you can print out some spay/neuter contracts to give to her, for an example when she 'sells' them?
why can't she bring them inside? Just tell her.. pups under the house, lack of extra nutrition and non socialized 50 bucks... pups happy, properly fed, and well socialized and in the house 300 bucks.
Since you're in Canada, can you print out a copy of the purebred dog law that requires them to be papered to be sold as pure bred? Maybe pointing out that she is contemplating something illegal will put a little sense into her.
I don't know, you could try having her look up BC mixes on petfinder in your area and see how much those are "going" for. She should have thought of this stuff before...oh well...
The money thing might work. As well as the legality stuff. I'll try and keep you guys posted. I will prob go out and see the pups soon, so I will keep you posted.
