Today at preschool we took the kids out for pick up time. One girls parents were late. This is a girl who is so painfully shy that she won't even eat snack or anything. Each day each week she opens up a little more but she still won't talk or do anything much.
Today all the other kids were picked up (except Hannah because she was with me). It was a miscommunication where mom thought dad was coming and vice versa. No big deal but it left us with half an hour with just her, hannah, the teacher and myself. WHAT A BLESSING!!!!!
We were outside waiting and we started collecting leaves, throwing maple keys in the air, making leaf piles and throwing them in the air. We had FUN and this girl was laughing and talking and throwing leaves at me and laughing and it was the most beautiful sound. Hannah even remarked "A.. Your are laughing and talking to me. A... You aren't sad anymore. I'm so happy".
I am going to encourage hannah to reach out more to this child just as she did today when she took her hand to walk to a potty break, when she engaged her to play during gym time and of course after preschool while we waited. Hannah is good at this and today was so touching.
It really was an incredible moment today that teacher and I really felt was needed and more than worth the extra half hour
. Really huge
