Hi

I am a new dog owner (i got a 6 month old cavalier king charles) and i love my pup to bits.

Some times i feel sorry for her because she has no one to play with.

Dont get me wrong, i take her for a run at 5 am, then she sleeps till 10 at which time i take her to the garden and play for about 45 mins and then at 6 my room mate comes home and she plays with her for a hour and i take her out at night for a run.

But sometimes she seems board out her mind, during the quiet moments she just looks so sad and lonley.

Is it a good idea to get her a firend??

If i get another cavalier king charles (would be 3 months old) is there any risk of them breeding ???

Is it a good idea to get a male or female like her??

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Seeeee, my dog has no one but humans.

When she sees other dogs in the park she runs like crazy towards them and plays with them (until the see she is a female and try to.........you know, at which point when she lies on the floor and whimpers)

I have 27 dogs but of course im a dog musher so I have an reason. It take up almost all my money caring for these guys and they come first me second. Techincally I have 28 dogs on the property because of the stray i have caught and am not trying to gain his trust and in the future find him a home.

I know im crazy but in all truth they found me i did'nt go looking :).

I only have one dog, but he's convinced he's a human!! As your puppy is so young you could take her to socialising classes, there she would get to meet other dogs and you would get to met other dog owners.
Before getting another dog you have to ask yourself if you can afford to keep another dog and if you have room for two pups! There wouldn't be any risk of them breeding at 3 months old, so you could get either a girl or a boy, but you would have to get them spayed or neutered so that you didn't end up with lots and lots of puppies.

Even if you did get her a play mate, surely there would be lots of times you'd expect both dogs to calm down so you could have some peace anyway?! She'd still have to deal with being quiet at times, and would be sighing at you and giving you that 'I'm bored' look!

Oreo and Roxy Mae are very close as they are inside with eachother all day. Spud and Precious are closer with one another as they are outside together all day and sleep in their cage inside the house together at night.

Two years ago I got Chloe, my Corgi, and she seemed lonely when we had to leave her, so I got a mini Doxie about 6 weeks later. They are the best of friends. I'm extremely happy that I got them both. This is the first time that I have ever had two dogs at the same time, and it's worked out great!!
