Ok, so since there are always threads about bad incidents at the DP or dealing with really ignorant people I thought I would post a happy thread instead.
Yesterday at the dog park at one of the beaches, this one to be exact:
There were about five dogs including my two. All of them very very retrieving/ball focused (except for Didgie who guarded the shore and greeted every dog when they got to it) and they all got along great.
Normally if there are more than a couple dogs there I leave that spot, it's too small and to be honest I just don't like being around a lot of other dogs there. But I stayed and it just worked great. They all were completely focused on toys but not snarky at all. A toy would be thrown and they would all go after it and then stop to let whoever got there first get it and come back and wait for another to be thrown. It was just very nice.
And THEN a little bit before I left a women with a Golden and Aussie came by and asked if Traveler and Didgie were Smooth BC's or Kelpie mixes. First, that's the absolute best guess I have ever gotten. Then after I said no, they were Koolie's she goes "Ohh, ok that makes sense." She trains with a women I know from the Koolie FB groups that used to have a Coolie so she knew what they were but wouldn't guess them when out at a DP in Chicago.
So then we got to talking and she competes in agility and trains at a facility she really likes. They're having a trial next week and she invited me to come there to see it and meet people and we're getting together tomorrow to let our dogs all run. New dog friend!
It was a good day!
