10 Breeds With The Highest Cancer Rate

Saw this on another dog forum, thought you guys might be interested in it. People who own/are involved with the listed breeds, is it accurate?

For the Rottweiler:

There have been studies done that suggest early spay and neuter greatly increases the chances of Osteo in Rottweilers. I think that the vast majority of rottweiler owners who are pet owners follow a vet's advice to spay and neuter at an early age. I find in my personal experience, rottweiler owners who are more than pet owners like ethical breeders, performance owners, and those in the conformation world are likely to alter their dogs after the age of 2 if at all. I consider myself in that group...and both of my dogs are intact at the age of 2 and 6. I won't neuter mine unless it is medically necessary. But, those types of rottweiler owners are the minority. I personally don't know of a rottweiler who has passed from Osteo that was altered after the age of 2. They died of other reasons or other cancers....but not of Osteo.

I think as pet owners become more educated about the risks to rottweilers with early spay/neuter, the Osteo rates will drop considerably.

I'd guessed over half the list before reading it, forgot about Berners even though I know someone who lost 2 quite young to cancer. Was surprised at cocker spaniels though, had no idea. Boxers, rottweilers and danes were/are on our maybe list but health and temperament issues are large turnoffs.
