Coughing/Hacking??

Hello all. I recently noticed that my dog was drinking less water. Whenever he does it's out of a fountain in the backyard. Right after he is done he does this hacking thing. He looks like he needs to throw somehting up, but nothing comes out. His eating habits are normal and his energy level is at spaz mode as always Has anyone experienced problems like this? Should I consult my vet?

I think it's just the way he drinks, I think it's normal sometimes for a dog to get a little water down his wind pipe. Y ou could always ask a vet next time your in.

I took care of a dog who loved to drink out of the water hose, he did the same thing when he was done, though. I think it's fine.
