See, this would be all I would ask of a friend or family member with a guardy dog. I don't want to be rushed and "held" if I've been invited over any more than I want someone to come around the corner holding a baseball bat if I've been invited.
Oh, well, yes, I agree with you then. When we're expecting someone, we're sure to either have Chloe put up or on a leash (or if we feel she'll get along with them right off the bat, we're at the door to greet them with her). We have a long drive and it is a dead end drive at that, so between the sound of a car and the dogs barking, we typically have lots of notice before someone can actually get out of their car and up to the door, even if the aren't expected.
I was reading your comment as, "I wouldn't want to go over to a house with a dog that would meet me aggressively/guardy at the door every time and the owner would always have to do X with the dog to get me to enter safely."
