My friend has a 9 year old 90lb Labrador with hip dysplasia and arthritis, and they need something to help her going down a flight of stairs to go outside. My friend is handicapped and unable to physically help her outside.

Basically looking for ideas on helping to get the ol girl outside.

If a ramp isn't possible, indoor/outdoor carpeting on the steps.

Have to ask- is the dog over weight? If so, dropping some of the excess will help. Ideally a female Lab should be between 55 and 70 pounds. I understand there are over sized ones out there who are not over weight at 90 pounds, tho.

She is overweigt. They had gotten her slimmed down at one point but then her arthitis/hip issues got worse and then now she's also got Cushings.

I've passed along the ideas, thanks ladies!

She is overweigt...
I'd definitely get the excess weight off then.

...and then now she's also got Cushings...
That brings up another question- has she been on steroids for the arthrithis? One form of Cushings is brought on by pred, etc, and, if I remember right from what I read, it can be reversed simply be discontinuing the steroid.
