Deputy has started full on mounting and humping Abby while they are in the field. Deputy has not tried to mount either male dog and has never done this before, even when he was younger. This only seems to happen when Abby is in "play mode" with either him or another dog.

Since he was diagnosed with Cognitive Dysfunction in Jan he has had various cognivite/neurological issues. Forgetting how to go through doors, barking at nothing, staring off into space, etc. About two months ago he started having trouble reading body language. Zane would rush up to him (he has always done this) and start doing play bows and getting all up in his face (again, normal). Deputy will cower and flip onto his back while the other dogs have WTF? looks on their faces. Figured out that putting Dep in the field first fixed that issue.

The humping thing is out of the blue. He does not do it in the house and he has only done it once before (last week). Abby does not growl, but gets this confused look on her face. He is not doing the "dominance hump" more like the "make puppies hump". He has never had a chance to mate in his life. Foster owner pulled him from a high kill shelter as a young pup and had him neutered when he was old enough. I do pull him off each time and he does not attempt to do it once he is pulled off. He may try again after awhile though.

Does this sound like a hormone issue or a part of his dementia?
