I thought this one was actually rather surprising. Does it work as well for you guys?

ETA: Link might be good to have: http://www.iams.com/dog-breed-selector

My results:

Pyrenean Shepherd77%
Pumi77%
Shetland Sheepdog75%
Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever73%
Belgian Tervuren73%
Belgian Sheepdog73%
Labrador Retriever73%
American Eskimo Dog72%
Australian Shepherd72%
German Shepherd Dog72%

Surprisingly spot on with a few exceptions here and there.

I will say I did tweak the grooming a little bit higher than I'd actually like because it seems all the breed selectors over estimate grooming ime. And I had no idea what to put for how 'commanding' I am.

Pumi?! I got Pumi. I wouldn't have ever considered them!

Pumi 84%
Belgian Malinois 84%
Belgian Tervuren 84%
Belgian Sheepdog 84%
Border Collie 83%
German Shepherd Dog 83%
Pyrenean Shepherd 80%
Australian Shepherd 79%
Australian Cattle Dog 79%
Rat Terrier 77%

And no offense to the GSD people here, it would be a cold day in heck before I got one of them, there's no way we'd fit personality-wise!

The rest I could see. I bet if koolie was on there, it would be somewhere in this top ranking.

Lol no. My best match was a walker, at 63%. After Hurley, I doubt I will ever willingly own a walker.

Have you ever met a pumi? I don't much like the look of them but they're wicked awesome dogs. Tons of drive and sass.

Yeah GSD, eskie, and lab were my no way in heck choices. GSDs are not a good fit for me at all.

I have! I really wasn't impressed by them though. I had a few come through my classes over the years and nothing made me look twice at them.

ETA: It could have very easily been those select dogs though.

I expect my yard size is what always throws these off for me - I basically don't have one. Funny enough, I've been thinking more and more about going small with my next dog, and the number one breed for me is one I actually asked a toy-dog friend about recently. I doubt I'll ever get one, but it did make me smile.

Yea, no way I'll ever own a GSD and where are the Belgians??

eta: the belgians were just on the next page:
Belgian Malinois 65%
Belgian Tervuren 65%
Border Collie 65%
Belgian Sheepdog 65%
Puli 65%

Also, they seem to think that ACDs are harder dogs than malinois! I consider them generally a step below Mals, but not by much. According to the selctor, ACDs need a large yard and shouldn't be in an apartment, but Mals need an average yard and are ok in an apartment if exercised well, yet ACD need "lots of exercise" and mals need "daily vigorous exercise". Also, ACDs are "dominant" and mals are neither overly dominant or submissive. Weird.

It's a cute little fun tool, but not something I'd sell my soul by. Gives one some ideas on the different breeds to start researching though.

****!

My "Best match" was the Belgian Malinois. And then 2 and 3 were Tervs and Groens. I accidentally closed the page before I could see the rest, but it sure got the first few right.

This might be one of Iams' better creations. LOL

ETA: to be fair, I put that I have a large yard because I give my dogs lots of exercise in public spaces or at work, but my yard is small. I just think yard size questions aren't terribly relevant if you're willing to get creative, lol.

I got Belgian Terv & Pyr Shep in the 90-80%, and everything else behind those were down % by a mile.

I retook it in an attempt to see what the non Belgian results were. I swear I answered everything the same, but this time black Belgians were my #1 match. :rofl1: go figure.

Anyway, my other matches were GSD and PyrShep. :)

Well switch Terv with the Sheltie and we've got a match. Sad that FCRs are far down the list and BCs don't even show up lol
