I've always wondered why are there so many folks listed as mods on this site? Some of them don't even post here any more.

If rules are in place and enforced fairly, and folks can self-moderate their own behavior...the current amount of mods does seem like overkill.

PS Yay! I hadn't checked out the additional smilie selection in a long time. Love the new ones!

Each one has different talents and " duties " . I ,for one, am not an early bird so don't contribute as much as I should EliNHunter is now blocked from Chaz at work and can't get on too often from home . I'm sure that Renee will have the right answer !

I think they have all been added over time and just never removed. Many of them check in now and then and they aren't doing any harm.... so I don't see that it's a big deal whether or not they are removed from the list.

As for the active mods, there is still the occasional spam/sporn that sits on the forum for awhile before a mod gets on so I don't think there are 'too' many mods.

this is such an active forum...with ALOT of members...we get lots of spam that i only see because im able to check in ALOT right now (no job lol) the mods do a wonderfull job of removing said spam and other not so nices.
and since everyone has other lives outside of chaz...

personally i feel the forum is fine with the amount of moderators
we are not overly moded or sensored which to me IS a sign of too many mods lol

The mod world will never be complete until you have a representative from every continent.

Who is the European contributer?

Bwhahaha.

We don't have an African mod yet either... or Asian.

What other continents are there? Geography isn't my strong point :p

We'd have a bit of trouble finding an Asian mod at the moment..........at least one that doesn't want to sell you CHEAP NIKES! CHEAP JORDANS! CHEAP REBOKS! DISCOUNT PRICES! HURRY HURRY HURRY!! :rofl1:

I've been here for sometimes, and still haven't figure out what exactly do mods do..
M&M, most of the time we just delete spam and ban the spammers. Sometimes we have to intervene when things get too out of control in heated debates, we must look into all reported posts (we get an email when one is reported)

And sometimes we just delete threads and PM the people who posted if it's inappropriate..........you know, like naked vegetables! :rofl1:
(sorry, I couldn't resist that last one M&M :D)

I was actually thinking there were too few mods recently- or at least posting one, lol! I remember a few times only one mod was on and we had a wave of spammers posting some really bad stuff. I felt so bad for the single mod who had to try to simultaneously stop the spammer and clean everything up.

alright. guilty here ;)

actually that's when I got the first hint of things you guys do... because aside from that incident, I never feel like I'm being moderated :).

Anyway, do you have to read every single posts and be on line 24/7? oh, and what is the "reported post"?

Whatever you do, you got my full support.

Oh heavens no! We could not possibly read every post! And no, we aren't on 24/7.......not even close. There are plenty of times there isn't a single mod online, but it usually isn't long before one of us pops up :D

And a "reported post" is when a member feels a post is inappropriate in some way, there is a little red triangle to click and report it. See up in the right hand corner of my post M&M? You should see a little white triangle trimmed in red with a ! inside it. If you feel this post is inappropriate, you click that and follow directions and it will email each of the mods and administrators simultaneously :)

The reported post thing is what you push when you want to let us know there's a post we need to look at, whether it's spam or something that's gotten ugly.

I doubt we read every single post, and there are probably some dead hours when there's not a mod online, but very few, but since it's all voluntary and not a paid position, we don't punch a time clock ;)
