Question about undercoat

Ok this is really going to sound stupid...but how do you know if you dog has an undercoat or not??

If it's not a poodle, bichon, maltese or yorkie, it has an undercoat. :D

If you brush them and you see fluffy hairs that aren't shiny like the top coat and/or it's coming out in chunks right about now, it's an undercoat.

Chloe being a poss. shepherd mix has an undercoat.

Thanks :D I was just wondering because it doesnt seem like Chloe has much of one but hair is really been flying these days ;) no matter how much I brush her...I can brush her then a few minutes later brush her again and its everywhere :eek: Cause her coat is very short except around her neck area and her butt :p and that is mostly where the shedding is taking place

You will be brushing all summer. Dogs with undercoats shed alot during the summer. My house is so hairy I want to cry sometimes.:D
