Is there anyone out there who has house rabbits AND dogs in the house? Ruckus pretty well ignores the rabbits and that's great. He has showed some interest and touched noses with one of the rabbits, neither the dog was aggressive or the rabbit. Honestly I was worried more about the rabbits being mean to him, rather him being mean to the bunnies.

see, my rabbits are usually not in a cage. The get run of the apartment and the dog hasn't been exposed to that yet. I wanted them to meet through the bars of a cage first. I am just wondering what I can do to help the dog/rabbit relationship blossom? Maybe someone knows an article i can read on getting dogs and other animals to get used to each other.

PS. of course they will NEVER to together for a second unsupervised!

I have a house rabbit and 2 dogs in the house. I let them sniff the rabbit and put them on leashes for the introduction. I observe them and tell them "easy" if they're starting to get to rambunctious. When they got to spending enough time with them they learned they need to be gentle and they now know that the bunnies aren't that big of a deal. Basic obedience is a must.

Here are articles that should help.

I have 2 bunns and 2 dogs..

The bunns get the run of one room in the house... the dogs get to visit them occasionally completly supervised and they do fine..

Good luck! :)

Wahoo - sounds like he did WAY better then I excpected!!

Congrads on that one - he'll learn to socialize with the bunnies now.

I dont have a bunny - I'd love to have one though.

Riot is obsessed with them. He LOVES little animals though. Maybe he just likes to be intimidating to small things? lol

Each time we are at the pet store I ask him where the Bunnies are and he'll run towards their enclosure and sit and wait for me to pick one up to show him lol

He'll then sit there and lick the bunnie or sniff it from nose to tail.

Thanks!!
Yeah looks like they will ignore each other. They have to get along, they share a small 288 square foot apartment!

Thanks. They still have not met face to face yet. I have the rabbits on half of the apartment seperated by a indoor fence i made. And the dog on the other half. I think when my boyfreind gets off work I will let them interact. Have him hold the bunny, and I will have the doggy on a leash.
