My doberman Penelope was tested yesterday for Cushings Syndrome after displaying pretty much every symptom. My vet just called and confirmed that not only does she have it but that it is adrenal based. He wants her in for xrays tomorrow and said that surgery would probably be her best bet for survival. He said that without it the illness could cause tumors in other parts of her body but that the surgery is very high risk. Has anyone had a dog with this diagnosis who has come through okay? He also said that he would need to treat her with Lysodren (sp?) first to supress it. I'm just so scared...she's my baby and I couldn't stand to lose her. We don't care what it costs, we just want the best possible treatment.
