I know its not good to wash your dog everyday, but is it all right to water them down with cold water after a long hot walk. (which I got a bug in my eye. Evil bugs) because since its been so hot and I go for a walk he so hot when we get home. So when I get home from my walk with him I take a cold shower, and after i'm done I put him in the shower and water him down to cool him off.

Is that ok our should I not do that.

Yea, just water is fine. You might want to get a spray that has natural oils and such for his coat, but as long as your not soaping him up, I couldn't see any reason why not.

It's just the same if he were to jump in the lake!

I use a mister after we walk customer dogs here (it's hot in Texas). A mister is a little hand-operated spray bottle. I spray it over the dog from about 2' and it doesn't get them as wet, but cools them down. The other thing I do is keep a fan going in the back doorway, so while they're drinking their cool-down water they get cooler without full-blast A/C, which can make a dog sick.
