Hello!
My senior dog, Veda, doesn't like playing with toys.
She's supposedly eight years old (we got her from the pound),
and was found on the streets. We suspect that her
owners just never played with her when she was little,
so she doesn't really know how to play. Is there
a way to introduce this to her?

Thanks!

You can get nearly all dogs to play its just for how long, Some dogs just are not that into it. Try dragging things along the floor and just give alot of praise for any interaction with toys.

Some dogs just aren't as interested in toys as others.

To teach fetch:

Get a toy (ball, frisbee, etc.) and tease your dog with it. Wave it around, etc.. Once your dog is interested, throw the toy. When the dog retrieves it, praise him and call him to you. Repeat.

Hello,

Our new 6 month old puppy just started playing with some of her toys. I suspect that she did not get much socialization from where we got her from. We have had her now for 2 weeks and anytime we play with her we use a toy. Maybe you dog in time will start to feel comfortable and start to take an interest.

We basically did what gaddylovesdogs said and now she fetches her toy stick and stuffed animal.
