ARTIST NATHAN JANES UNVIELS MUTZ: THE URBAN UNDERDOG

Nathan Janes has announced the recent completion of an exciting pair of works depicting a character of his own creation, “Mutz: The Urban Underdog.” According to Janes, Mutz is a doggie super hero who promotes the prevention of cruelty towards animals while enforcing the rights of companion animals. Janes depicts his caped canine in a recent painting and as a statue, both of which can be viewed on the website http://poparf.com/Mutz_the_urban_underdog.html. The Mutz statue will be displayed in downtown Winston-Salem, North Carolina during the coming months and auctioned for “Art Unleashed”, a benefit to be held in August for the Forsyth Humane Society of Winston-Salem.

Mutz is depicted as a true hero dedicated to educating all people of humane treatment and encouraging the placement of animals in loving homes. The artist says that the canine character is always there to help other pooches in need by “throwing them a bone.” Janes was inspired to create Mutz to increase public awareness towards animal welfare. He hopes that Mutz will bark a strong message of animal protection and resilience in the face of cruelty.

Janes is becoming increasingly known in the world of art for his pop art stylings of dogs, which have come to be known as “Pop ARF”. Within the last several months, Janes’ art work has been featured in a variety of national and international publications. In 2005, Janes was named an “Emerging Artist and Trendsetter” by Art Business News, the largest trade publication in the US.
