Well not that a scorpion covered in more scorpions aren't awesome but I thought we could use a lighter topic thread. Good cover songs... you know they exist so let's share. ;)

Ran across this one the other day. I love it. I guess it's considered to be viral right now.

Also two covers which were vast improvements IMHO from the originals

I like Evergreen Terrace's cover of Xero, and Marilyn Manson's cover of Tainted Love... and I like Me First & the Gimme Gimmes' version of "Goodbye Earl" much better than the Dixie Chicks' lol

That kid has some talent. I'm curious to check out his other stuff.

I'm with you on the VH cover, but as much as I like Cash, I don't think he beats out NIN. At least not for me

Anytime Anthrax has covered Judas Priest or Iron Maiden.
I don't think Anthrax can improve on Maiden ever :) Love both, but Maiden is in a different league I think, and I have tickets to see them twice this summer. Pretty happy about that.

Anyway, DMB's remake of All along the watchtower has always been one of my favorites live.

I always the GnR's Knocking on Heaven's Door was pretty good too.

I prefer Motley Crue's version of Helter Skelter to the Beatles' version.

And just to strip my gears by shifting genre's Jimmy Buffett's "Mele Kalikimaka" is better than Bing's

I'm going to disagree with Kat completely on two of hers in the OP. The Van Halen "You Really Got Me" is good, but I prefer The Kinks on that. Also, Joe Cocker's "A Little Help From My Friends" might just be the worst cover ever done. If it comes on the radio, I change the station.

I think Johnny Cashs version of Hurt is amazing, and waay better than NIN.

And that cover of LMFAO was awesome. He has an amazing voice.

Put me on the Johnny Cash "Hurt" bandwagon. I read an interview with Trent Reznor after it was released where he remarked that he didn't think they were going to perform it in concert anymore because it wasn't their song anymore -- it belonged to Johnny Cash now.

I don't like this BETTER, but I like it differently. I feel like it's more of an interpretation than a cover, and I am grateful to Louie for turning me on to it: http://youtu.be/QohUdrgbD2k

BIG improvement on the original for me: http://youtu.be/Fa8A4k1WQSs

I love almost every version of this -- but compared to the Motorhead version :D http://youtu.be/OIh3nO6-V_A

EDIT: I love anything Eva Cassidy ever covered: http://youtu.be/ZGwDYBWEDSc

Love the guy singing LMFAO. I hate that song but I loved his version.

Didnt say they could improve on any Maiden song, I just love it when they do. Maiden is one of Anthrax's favorite bands.
