Did you know that sugar gliders have 3 vaginas and two uteruses?

Now answer truthfully- did you know this before reading the thread? LOL.

I'm easily amused :p

Yep, they can become pregnant twice at the same time and have 3 litters going at a time.

Mind = blown.

ETA: No wonder why males have 2 shafts on their penis :yikes:

Female Sugar gliders have 2 uteruses and 3 vaginas. So they are able to become pregnant twice at the same time and be able to carry as many as 3 litters at once ranging in 3 different age categories.

females have a 'bifud' reproductive tract... The vagina and uterus are double. (the uterus of a marsupial is divided and each side has its own vagina.) the male's penis is bifurcated to match. There is a third tube that is for delivery and, in most species, develops just before birth and is reabsorbed after the birth
wieeeeeeerd!!

Also, I hate you for getting a sugar glider, because now I want one. I'm not getting one, but I want one.

The uterus and vagina count is fascinating, your Sugar Glider is utterly adorable, and Priscilla Winifred is very wise.

Yup, I knew that, and not because I've researched sugargliders...but because I took a reproductive physiology class this past semester and it was discussed. LOL

I knew about the uteruses... uteri....? lol. It must have been mentioned briefly in my exotic pets class, because I don't know where else I would have learned this. :p

Did not know about the vajayjays though hahaha that is super weird.

So is there a bonus vagina or a deficiency in the uteri?

I did not know that. But know all sorts of weird animal facts. Female ducks can shunt the penis of an unwanted suitor to a 'blind' non fertile alley of her reproductive tract. That way they can choose not to be fertilized by males they don't like. Birds have a flow through lung design and tree frogs freeze solid in the winter but thaw inside to outside in the spring...
