The food we were feeding Jake had 20% fat which is what the bandog breeders all said to feed until a year old. He no longer likes the food.

He likes Canidae which has 14.5% fat. We need to up the fat to 20% Does anyone know what we can add to up the fat content and how much?

Thanks

OK another breeder finally said not to worry too much about the percentage of fat but we should add some fat/oil to the diet.

I got some advice about adding olive oil which we will try. Thanks

Salmon oil is a good choice too. Since it comes from an animal source, it is more "available" for the dog to absorb. The plant sources like olive oil will work well too, but I have had the best luck with salmon oil and they LOVE the flavor and smell. :)

if you only add a small amount, i would also recommend fish oil over olive oil or any other vegetable oil.

DHA and EPA (essential omega 3 fatty acids) only occur in marine sources and they are only present in small amounts in commercial food.
