My dog Tia constantly trembles when she's picked up even in warm air. I got her from my sister-in-law when her mother died and she said that she had been told by the vet that trembling is characteristic of her breed(chihuahua). My brother and his wife are paying for all visits to the vet and other expenses because I am retired and on a fixed income, so I have not visited with the vet. Do any of you know from reading or hearing if trembling truly is a characteristic of chihuahuas? I thought if the vet says it is then maybe it is, but I'd just like to know if any of you have read or heard anything about this. Thanks:confused:

Chihuahuas have a very high metabolic rate that is why they shake. By shaking, they are able to control their adrenaline.

Shaking has no bearing on adrenaline production. Adrenaline may produce shaking, but not the other way around.

If she is only doing this when picked up she is nervous and under socialised. You need to slowly start building her confidence. The best way to do this is to take her to some training classes and let her "meet" the world a little.

Good luck!
