Hello Everyone! I am searching for the best Border Collie breeder for me. I am in Southern California, so hopefully something near there, or transportation fees not super high. I really have NO idea how to choose a good breeder. I want a BC that has an off switch, and knows when to use it. I want to hopefully compete in agility, obedience, and possibly dock diving. I want a well bred dog with good health. I knew this one breeder and her price for a limited AKC registration was 1,500. I thought that was the norm. for BC prices, but I just recently found out it is more 800-900. So, I would want one that is as cheap as possible. Only because I want money for training, supplies, etc. Please help me!1 :) :) Thanks!

So... you want a sports dog so to speak. Have you thought about going to different events and watching the dogs perform? That would be a good way to find a breeder. Is this your first sports dog? Look for a breeder that health tests for common Border Collie ailments. That is your best bet! If you want our opinion on a breeder just ask!

Good Luck!

I have been looking at Contact Border collies. I always have the live cam on in the morning and evening. No where on the sight, though, does it say the deposit and the final fee to adopt. They currently have a litter born, and one that is due tomorrow. I would love some feedback on that breeder. Also, where could I be around border collies? I mean I didn't just loom at the dog and say, Oh! I want one!, I have done a lot of research and know a lot about the breed. I think it would help to be around some in person.

I can't be terribly helpful since I don't know all that much about Border Collies, but I have some CA breeders you can look at, though some might be too far north for you. Not sure of prices, if price is super important then you may want to consider a rescue instead or wait until you are in a better financial situation. If you are simply trying to make sure you're not overpaying then that's a different story, just make sure you aren't sacrificing quality for price.

I don't have any personal experience with these breeders, I am recommending them based on their website info. So you'll definitely want to research them further before deciding to go with one. Some are show breeders, some working, some more sport oriented. Some of the border collie people on the forum might come by and be able to give more information on these breeders as far as their reputation.
