I make these for all the critters! Even my cats will eat them, my dogs love them. Its a big recipe, but is easily reduced.
KOOOKIES
8 cups steel cut oats
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup shredded carrot
1cup shredded apple
3 eggs
2 tbsp salt
1/3 cup lard
1& 1/2 cups molasses
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
Put everything in a big ol' bowl and mix it up good. will be very stiff, but moist and workable. add more molasses as needed. (molasses is easier to use if heated in microwave) I line 9x14 pans with reynolds clean release aluminum foil. Press mixture into baking pans to desired thickness, will take several pans. Bake at 300 45-70 min depending on thickness. Remove from oven. let cool 1/2 hour then invert onto cutting surface, and immediately cut into logs. Makes as many as you make! If they don't cool off to be crunchy, put them back in for a bit.
