My First EVER attempt at using Pastels

I have decided to have my first ever attempt to draw in pastels,
I have never ever used pastels before so im still hoping to improve once i get the hang of them
but my sister got me some pastels for christmas along with lots of other art stuff
so i thought i would give it a shot and have to say it was sooo much better than using charcoal, the colours really help to show the character alot better

So my first every pastel drawing of course had to be....

cant tell oil or chalk? if it is oil hats off to you for i could never ever make them work for me! I love seeing the progress..GREAT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i love the eyes! They really look alive and i think they are the most important part of any portrait.

they are Oil Pastels (hence the mess sooo sticky LOL and im left handed!)
