It's a pear core. Kharma and I had a very good organic pear today. I bite off pieces and give them to her. She loves fruit, and I guess me biting it off and then giving it to her takes her back to being a puppy.
When I got to the end of the pear, I held the core for her, but she was struggling to work on the core without getting my fingers, so, I figured, "what the heck - one pear core's worth of seeds can't hurt her," and let her have the core.
She laid down at my feet quite happily with it, closed her eyes, and happily proceeded to go to work. I couldn't see what she was doing exactly, because it was all undercover of the jowls. After a few minutes she spit something out.
This is all that was left:
All gone except for the woody stem, inner core WITH SEEDS INTACT, and the bloom scar on the bottom.
Freaking amazing, especially if you'd ever seen, up close, just what kind of cutlery she's got in there.
