CNN article: Grim future for seized fighting dogs

I'm still in the midst of reading it, but it seems to be about the fact that most pit bulls seized from dog fighting operations face no future other than euthanised.

I'm in the middle of the article and interestingly they just mentioned that pit bulls are a category of dogs, not a breed.

The shelter I used to volunteer at is located in an area with a lot of dog fighting, and seized fighting dogs were never adopted out. Ever. It is way too much of a liability to adopt out dogs with that kind of history (a history of serious abuse, neglect, and total lack of proper pet dog socialization) . Unfortunately the responsible thing to do is to humanely euthanize and prosecute the humans so they don't have the chance to breed more dogs.
