Duke was my first dog and has essentialy designed my outlook on dog ownership.
When I bought Duke I knew three methods on how to deal with behavioural issues, scruffing, verbal corrections, time outs and *shudders to think I tried this once* pinning.
I owned one dog book- The Canadian Kennel Club's Puppy Obidence Book
I had no control over him
18 months later...
I am much much more literate on common dog behavioural problems, specifically reactivity and fear aggression.
Have seen a behaviouralist and worked for 14 months straight on behaviour modification with Duke.
Have completed three levels of Obidence and will be attending our first OB trial in a two months.
Own 7 dog related books my favourite being Nicholas Dodman's Dog's Behaving Badly an A-Z Guide to understanding and curing Behavioural Problems in Dogs.
I have control over him as well as a deep bond based on mutual respect, communication, limits and love.
