Using a laser pointer for targeting?

Shaman, bless his heart, does not exactly get using a stick to target. He will target my hand, but if I try and transfer to something else, he just nudges mt finger when I point. He's utterly blank on the concept of the stick.

Fat Pussy got a laser pointer for christmas. She doesn't give two diddlies about it, but Shaman loves it.

Has anyone used a laser pointer to help with ,earning to target objects. I don't want to use it as a toy, because I don't want him to become obsessed, but do you think it would hurt for short training sessions?
