My beagle is continually licking the innermost toe on her right foot. It suddenly started two days ago. I don't know if she got bit, stepped on something or what. She was given a complimentary bath by my dogwalking service a couple days ago. No idea if that did anything. Any ideas? Thanks.

You can see in the picture that it's gotten red due to her licking.

It could be an allergy to something shes been exposed to.

I'd clean it, wrap it and take her into the vet to have it looked at.

It could also be infected.

My dog injured his nail and the vet had us soak the paw in plain warm water a couple of times a time for 5 days. This worked. If it didn't help, then the vet had said to bring him in.

She might have gotten a small cut or have something stuck there. Will she let you examine it?

I would try the warm water soaks, but if it doesn't start to improve in a day or two, take her to the vet. It might be infected.
